Women in the Workplace Ministries were founded by Nerina Smith in September 2008. Since then the Lord worked many wonders in this Ministry.

The Ministry primarily works in the broader Cape provinces, literally from the north to the south and the east to the west. Towns that have been visited include; Aberdeen, Clarkson and Kareedouw (Eastern Cape); Mossel Bay, Knysna and Karatara (Southern Cape); Lamberts Bay, Vanrhynsdorp, Vredendal (Namakwaland) and Steinkopft (Northern Cape) 70 km from the Namibian border. More than 15 000 km was covered in just one year!

There are many tales to tell, tales of sadness but also tales of hope:

One of the founder’s most precious moments was when the Lord spoke to her to ‘go and teach them to observe all things as He has taught her’, when Diana Hagee, at the King’s Daughters Conference at Cornerstone Church, San Antonio, Texas was teaching on hospitality.  Exactly a year later one of her conference attendees made a remark about how the Lord showed her that Nerina was teaching them to prepare for the table of the Lord and to prepare as brides for the coming of the Lord!!  She remembers this very well – she burst into tears, at the remembrance of Diana talking on this subject.

There was a lady who is the leader of the women’s group at the AFM church in her home town.  She had many issues with her husband being an alcoholic. At the end of the conference she mentioned that the Lord taught her, that she still had a lot to be thankful for, even for her husband, who was not brutal towards her when under the influence.  She was taught that she had value in God’s eyes and He chose her to be useful for Him!!  After the team stayed over at her house, she knew for sure that she also was able to show hospitality, even though she did not have many material possessions. 

….and a mother who couldn’t believe that the speaker has a hearing problem. 

She told Nerina that her daughter was also deaf.  The young woman would like to be trained as an evangelical worker for deaf people, but this was impossible.

Nerina assured her that it is possible!! She was able to direct them to the right connections, in order to be trained.  This young woman will be starting her course at Deaf Christian Mission Africa in the near future.  No wonder the logo of the Ministry is    ‘We empower women to empower themselves.”
